I figured that this week, to break up the past few blogs all about cats, I would let y’all know all the magical things I learned during my first visit to the “happiest place on Earth.”
Growing up, I was only ever taken to Disneyland once when I was fairly young. Needless to say, this did not provide me with the entire experience that everyone constantly raves about. Knowing that I was hoping to go on my personal day, a chapter member was more than willing to drive the three hour (each way) trip to Disney World with me. Here are some of the things that I learned:
1. Layer like a pro
Dress like you’re on a tropical island during the day, but prepare for freezing cold winds and chilly weather as soon as the sun sets. A cardigan to fit in your small purse is ideal!
2. Dole whip heaven
If you’re anything like me, pineapple flavored anything comes as a delight! Well, Adventureland in Magic Kingdom has an actual Dole Whip pineapple float station that is an ABSOLUTE refreshment must!
3. First timer buttons
During your first visit to Disney World, be sure to let the person from whom you are purchasing your ticket know. They give you a cute button to wear around all day, and everyone in the park seems to want to make your visit extra special!
4. Don’t get soaked
After trying to get advice from all of my friends that have been to Disney World before, I decided that I would try out the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. If you have any clothes on whatsoever that you do not wish to get soaked, do not go on this ride….or at least make sure that you do not get seated at the front of your boat. This was the unfortunate mistake that Sierra and I made…and we suffered wet clothes for a majority of the day after!
5. Enjoy your surroundings
Now, I know that this may seem obvious, but a lot of times our society tends to get wrapped up in everything going on in their lives. Disney World should be used as a place for carefree bliss. Sit back, eat all of those fried calories, and accept the fact that you’re going to be waiting three hours in line for a three-minute ride. It’s all about the experience!
I hope that I gave y’all a little insight to my first adventure in Disney World. If you get the chance, definitely do it….it truly is one of the happiest places on Earth!
