If You Really Knew Me

This past week, the Beta Xi Chapter at the University of Memphis had a sisterhood retreat to bond as a chapter. At the retreat, they did a program called “If You Really Knew Me”, which made me think. I started thinking of how I would finish the sentence “if you really knew me _____”. I was able to come up with a few that I thought would let you learn just a little bit more about me.

If you really knew me, you would know that I’m obsessed with my dog.

He’s basically my child. When I go home, one of my favorite things is being bombarded with puppy kisses and to just snuggle him. He’s the best snuggler, the perfect running buddy and is clearly an adorable reindeer.

If you really knew me, you would know I cry at the drop of a hat.

Or at wedding videos or children’s television shows, or just because. Some would say that joining Sigma Kappa made me “catch the feels” and has really brought out my emotional side. img_5264

If you really knew me, you would know I miss being with my family more than anything.

My family is extremely important to me. They’re the ones that laugh at me even when I’m not funny, the ones that hold me to my values, the ones that love me unconditionally and the ones that are my unwavering support system no matter what. Being away from my family as a leadership consultant is extremely difficult, but getting to go home and see them during the holidays is that much more exciting.

If you really knew me, you would know that I’m a very loyal and avid sports fanatic.

Growing up in Saint Louis, I’ve always been around amazing sports teams. Because of this, I’ve become a loyal fan of the Saint Louis Cardinals, the Saint Louis Blues, and more recently, the Missouri Tigers. I love the immediate connection you feel to other fans, and the excitement you feel when your team brings home a win. img_7252

If you really knew me, you would know I love my job more than anything and Sigma Kappa has become my home.

Joining Sigma Kappa has been a life-changing experience for me. It’s given me the confidence that’s allowed me to become a consultant and has opened so many doors. Not only has this position given me the opportunity to meet some of the most passionate, driven and extraordinary women, but it’s pushed me to my limits and allowed me to become the best version of myself.
