When I was young, probably about 11, I remember my mom telling me, “If you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.” At the time, I did not quite understand that, but now I get it.
I love my job.
I have not worked a day since I started in June. I love it because every day brings new opportunities and different challenges. I love that. I have to admit that there have been times that were not easy, but from those uneasy feelings and questions, I grew. I have learned how to be a better sister, friend and leader from those experiences. And I have to add that those moments seem to fade away when I realize that I get to live my dream.
I am able to touch the lives of people and work with them to achieve their goals. Hearing that a chapter you worked with achieved or exceeded their fall recruitment goals is a feeling I cherish. Or helping a chapter woman learn something she never knew. I love it all.
No achievement is too small or too big.
I am also realizing that I am changing in my new position. It reminds me of the song “For Good” from Wicked. In this song, there is a section that says, “who can say if I have changed for the better, but I know I have been changed for good.” I know that I am changed from this job. And yes, I love that too.
