Follow your Heart, Kid

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Baseball season is right around the corner, and I couldn’t be happier. There is nothing better than an afternoon or evening at the ballpark eating some peanuts, singing Take me out to the ballgame and cheering on your favorite team (the Braves, duh). As I packed my bag for my most recent chapter visit, I made a point to grab my Chipper Jones jersey to prepare for one of my days off and the most glorious day of the year – Opening Day.

America’s favorite pastime is back, ladies and gentlemen. Here is how baseball season relates to Sigma Kappa’s values.

1. Loyalty:

Being in a sorority is like being on the team. When one person doesn’t show up or doesn’t put forth the effort, it affects the entire chapter or in baseball – the entire team.

Baseball fans and Sigma Kappa women are loyal to their organizations. Being a fan and being a sorority woman are both lifelong commitments.

2. Friendship:

Baseball season is a time for friendship! It is a time to cheer on your favorite team and make great memories. Friendship is all about being supportive!

4. Personal Growth:

Being a part of a team or a member of a sorority teaches you to work with others, constantly seek to improve, learn from mistakes, and to step outside of your comfort zone.

So now, I will leave you with my final piece of baseball related wisdom spoken (fictionally) by the Great Bambino (also known as The Sultan of Swat! The King of Crash!):

“Remember kid, there’s heroes and there’s legends. Heroes get remembered, but legends never die. Follow your heart kid, and you’ll never go wrong.”

– The Sandlot

 Happy baseball season!
