Eat This: Steak ‘n Shake

Hello, all! I’m back with the next installment in my homage to fast food, coming to you from the lovely town of Clarksville, Tenn.

General Summary

Since the glittering year of 1934, America and a few other lucky countries have been blessed with the American classic that is Steak ‘n Shake. Ever a friend to the poor college student, Steak ‘n Shake comes replete with a $4 meal menu and crayons to color on your placemat with. Home of a top-notch steakburger and excellent milkshakes, this restaurant is always a solid choice. Without further ado, here is my overall evaluation of Steak ‘n Shake.

French Fries

Crispiness: 9/10

Salt Level: 7/10

Freshness: 8/10

Overall Assessment: Delicious and delightfully straw-like, these are the perfect French fries to dip into your milkshake for a sweet and salty treat. That is, it’s the perfect combination if you enjoy dipping your fries into ice cream, which coincidentally I do not. Regardless, Steak ‘n Shake has a wonderful habit of filling all the empty space on your plate with the fries, allowing no fried potato shortage. Much appreciated.

Condiment Level: 8/10

Bun Quality: 7/10

Topping Quality: 6/10

Overall Assessment: Wonderfully seasoned and served to you fresh out of the kitchen, my only critique of Steak ‘n Shake’s burgers is that they are very thin and frequently leave me hungry after my meal. I personally enjoy ordering the three-slider meal, but all of their hamburger options look good.

Flavor: 10/10

Consistency: 7/10

Happiness Level: 7/10

Overall Assessment: My only issue with the milkshakes here are that even the kid size is almost impossible to finish in the duration of your meal. While this is entirely a personal problem, the large milkshake size really deprives me of the personal victory I feel each time I am able to finish my entire meal. However, the milkshakes themselves are absolutely delicious and are available in an impressive variety of flavors. Steak ‘n Shake is even ushering in the new fall season with a pumpkin spice milkshake, if you were looking for another pumpkin spice option to add to your rotation.

Décor: 7/10

Friendliness: 9/10

Wait Time: 9/10

Overall Assessment: Firmly committed to 1950’s décor and a red and black color scheme, Steak ‘n Shake has definitely stayed true to their brand over the years. The workers are always very polite and friendly, and you never have to wait very long for your food. All in all, eating here is always a pleasant dining experience that I would recommend to anyone.

Overall Evaluation: Average score of 7.8/10.
